Then begins a folklore performance — musicians play ancient nomadic melodies on the komuz, dancers move gracefully in traditional attire. Southern Shore of Issyk-Kul • From Frozen Silence to Warm Shores Breakfast and goodbyes to the camp. A city tour of Karakol reveals the region’s culture: the Dungan Mosque — a colorful wooden masterpiece built without nails — and across the street, a 19th-century wooden Orthodox cathedral.
